Optometrist
Dr. Sheppard has worked in various practice settings, including private practice, school vision screenings, co-management settings with ophthalmologists, and skilled nursing centers. After these experiences, she decided that primary care optometry and taking care of entire families from patients 6 months old to 100+ years old was the perfect setting for her and she joined Dr. Nelson’s practice in 2007.
She lives in Alameda with her husband, Scott and her children, Caitlin and Sophia. Around Alameda, you might see her volunteering at her children’s school or cheering her kids on in sports, theatre or an arts program.

Optometrist
Her training includes pediatrics, ocular disease, and contact lenses. She is board-certified to treat ocular diseases, including glaucoma but especially enjoys specialty fit contact lenses such as orthokeratology for myopia control and scleral lenses for keratoconus.
She is originally from the Bay Area and now lives in Alameda with her husband and their three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and spending time with her family.

Optometric Assistant
Tammy keeps our schedule up and running to make sure that every appointment is seen on time. Tammy and her husband Tom have 4 children and 7 grandchildren that they love visiting and spoiling!

Optometric Assistant
She grew up in Alameda and is passionate about having a career here on our island helping patients. She has two wonderful boys with her husband and loves that she is able to work and live where she calls home.

Optician
She has been an Alameda resident since then, graduating from Encinal High School. Emily is new to the optometry world but is eager to learn all about optics. Her goal is to help every patient find the right frames to fit their lifestyle and optical needs.

Optician
Prior to relocating to Alameda, Riley began his career in Optometry three years ago, and he is excited to continue to expand his knowledge and help you with your eye care needs.

Practice Administrator
This deep-rooted experience makes her our ultimate go-to for daily operations, seamlessly managing everything from front-end patient care to complex back-end administration. When she’s off the clock, Nancy stays busy with her partner, their Boston Terrier, and her two children. With kids aged 10 and 2, she’s the first to tell you that an eight-year age gap is no joke—but navigating that ‘crazy’ dynamic at home is exactly what makes her a master of multitasking at the office! Nancy is thrilled to bring her nearly two decades of knowledge to Dr. Sheppard’s practice and the Alameda community.
